Welcome to the Future of Healthcare
What is the #1 thing you'd like to see doctors do differently?
Dr Gryder takes the time to listen. It takes time to understand a person's path, and more time to change patterns of behavior and thought. Dr G likes to see her patients 1-12 times a year, often enough to maintain a connection, monitor any serious concerns, and support the diet or lifestyle changes that are needed.
Your treatment depends on you. No two people are the same. What are you willing to do? Dr Gryder will give you options, and you choose a path that agrees with your values and goals. At the beginning we want to remove barriers to cure, build resilience and strength. With your inner strength fortified you can weather the challenges of life and live well. No one else can live your life for you.
Dr Teresa Gryder is the founder of Fundamental Medicine and a licensed Naturopathic Physician. She is a different kind of naturopath because she believes that science reveals the best medicine and should be the basis for public health policy. She searches for evidence-based alternatives, and will openly discuss her reasoning with you. Conventional treatments can be effective, but they are not always. Alternative treatments can be unsubstantiated, but they are not always. The future of medicine includes plenty of options besides commercial pharmacology, surgery and placebos.
There is a big difference between longterm "management" of a health condition and resolution. We are going for complete resolution, for cure, for a blissful and satisfying life. Insurance companies, regulators, pharmaceutic corporations and even doctors might tell you that you must take a pill for the rest of your life, that your disability is permanent, or that you will never be normal. If normal is mediocre or miserable, you might disagree. You do not have to believe a doctor who tells you there is nothing to be done. There is always hope. Each patient has the right to full information and the right to choose his or her own path.
Mental illnesses are tough because they are so taboo. If you talk about it you get labelled weak, or crazy. But we can change our minds, there are lots of ways to do it. To resolve a mental health concern takes time, and people to help. A counselor, a regular primary care doctor and others may be called in to help you get the care that you need. Dr Gryder is there to help, with ideas from the space between conventional medications and counseling.
Neurological and psychological problems are inter-related. Inflammation of the brain makes us depressed and leads to dementia. Genetic variations can cause anxiety, autism and psychosis. Emotional pain makes physical pain worse. Any treatment that does not recognize this connectivity is doomed to be a bandaid, when a deeper shift is desired. Sometimes the most important change is gaining an understanding of what is happening and why, and accepting it. We are all different, we have different set points. There is room in this world for all kinds of people.
We can offer help beyond drugs for people who have sleep problems, depression or anxiety, addictions, abuse and post traumatic syndromes, traumatic brain injuries, neuralgias, tremors and memory loss. Naturopathic approaches can resolve complex conditions like fibromyalgia, metabolic syndrome, chronic pain, occult infections, chronic fatigue syndrome and other conditions that may not be taken seriously in conventional settings.
We do not discriminate! We happily work with people of every description. Variations in gender, sexuality, race, politics, or spiritual beliefs are normal and good. All people are worthy. We are honored to be of service.
